A specialized CAN FD adapter has been developed for use with the high-speed CAN FD bus found in modern vehicles. Without this adapter, the diagnostic tool will not be able to communicate with the CAN FD bus (you will not be able to connect to it). This adapter is designed for all LANCH scanner models in the PRO/RAD series equipped with a VCI adapter (type DBScar II/IV/V). This adapter can also be used on similar compatible diagnostic systems.
For the latest generation of scanners: PRO5 / PAD V / V II, equipped with a universal VCI like Smartbox 3.0 / SmartLink C, a CAN FD adapter is not required, as its support is already included in these diagnostic modules.
Currently, the CAN FD bus is used on premium vehicles: BMW, VAG, GM, Ford, KIA / Hyundai, in speed-critical CAN network sections. One striking example is the 2022 KIA Sorеnto, which uses the CAN FD bus to communicate with ADAS components (radars, cameras) and the instrument cluster. However, in the future, automakers will continue to implement this CAN FD bus in lower-priced vehicles.
The latest GM vehicles produced after 2020. Uses advanced CRC algorithms to fit more data (8 to 64 bytes) into a CAN frame, which is faster than other products and reduces the risk of undetected errors, significantly improving the user experience.
